Motivation Letter (VDMS Scholarship)
Wanda’s Part of Life
My name is Hibati Wanda Rani Wafira, everybody called me Wanda. I’m 19 years old this year and now i’m in the 2nd year in Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, one of the greatest University in my country. I’m studying at Faculty of Social and Politic Science and took major Social Development and Welfare. I’m good at this major because i can speak up everything in my mind. Social Science is not an exact thing, it changes everytime so this major is for me like a field to develop my state of mind about how’s social condition for now on and of course the solution and what do we do as a youth mind to figure this social problem out.
Actually, i’m living far away from my parents. They’re lived at Tangerang, and I live in Boarding House in Yogyakarta. Eventhough i’m sharing my room with Fifi (my roommate), but she’s in the different major, so i can’t share about lesson with her. In this explanation self, i would like to explain about my activities and my interests that may can be considered for you to choose me as one of the scholar recipients.
To dig my self potention i have two organizations where i’m active at, which is first Korps Mahasiswa Social Development and Welfare as Vice President, i am the first women who had being vice president in this organization for whole life, and how lucky i am that i have a partner (The President) who can share our job together so it can be easier for us to handle this organization. I really like to take care this because it’s like i have a second family after my parents, i have a lot of friends, i can get closer with the lectures, i can share everything, do some crazy idea, hang out together, and fallin love .
Before i’ve choosed being vice president in 2011, i’m active at Korps Mahasiswa Social Development and Welfare as a staff of Develop Human Resources Department in period 2010. In this department, i’ve ever being an Event Coordinator of New Student’s Orientation, Chairman of United Night, and Secretary of Upgrading and Leadership. So this is good considered for me to be Vice President in the next period. And fortunately, lot of people vote for Vandy and Wanda (VW).
My second organization is Forum of Youth Interfaith (FYI) as a coordinator and also founder, FYI is stand up behind CRCS (Center for Religion and Cultural Studies) which is Master Program in Gadjah Mada University. In this organization we learn and knowing another religion in Indonesia. As we know, Indonesia is one country with pluralism inside, there’s six different religions in Indonesia, which is Islam, Catholic, Protestan, Buddhist, Hindu and Kong Hu Chu. The reason why i want to concern in this forum is because lot of conflicts happened in Indonesia based on different opinion about religion. It doesn’t make any sense for me, so i choose to start from myself, understanding another faith in this world so i can’t get provoke easily, why we have to fight each other? There’s one God in this universe, the difference between us is just the rule that we do to pray at Him.
It’s all about my activity in organization. And what about my academical stuff? Like GPA? In my first year at university, honestly i’m awful. I just get 2,95 in first semester and 2,85 in second semester. It’s because in first semester i’m trying to do part time job as a rent dvd keeper. I want to feel a new experience but this job take my college’s time so much, and my score getting down and down. So i choose to get out, and in the third semester i’m trying my best, i felt ashame when a Vice President get a bad GPA (under 3.00) and finally i prove to my parents, i prove to the world that i can get 3.57 for my GPA. It’s so proudly i think, and i hope this spirit has never ending so i can get a better and better GPA for the next semester.
Talk about the future, after i graduate from my Bachelor Degree i want to be a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in one big corporate in Indonesia. Because i realize that poverty is near with a big corporate, so they must help poor people to deserve good life. State can’t stand by their own, they need private sector and CSR is the one who made a junction between them. I’ll work for maybe three or four years and looking for scholarship for Master Degree in Southampton University, England. I’d take Humanities major, and after that i want to be a lecture in Gadjah Mada University and build my own school in the Bantul village in Jogjakarta and spend my old time there with person i love. I want children in Bantul deserve good education. I want my life is useful for another people, that’s what my mother always talks about. She’s a teacher too, she teaches to read Qur’an in my home. My father is a lecture in Economic Institute in Tangerang, maybe my passion is coming from them. I like writing too, i had a blog which is wandaslens.blogspot.com but this recently week i seldom open my blog because i just kind of busy.
This is the last part. I have a big dream and i have my own way to make a change in the country where i lived and i hope you can help me to make it real with this scholarsip, i’ll make my scholarship money to do observation in the village in Jogja about how’s their condition . Thankyou for reading. God bless
